This is another highly requested topic from my readers. So, here it is. In this post, I will be sharing the best hair removal methods according to my experience.
I’m Asian and most of us Asians are naturally blessed with hair ‘everywhere’. I do appreciate hair but just on my head and eyebrows. It’s such a pain (literally) to remove hair. I can honestly say I’m quite experienced in this arena since I have almost tried every hair removal method.
Ways how to remove body hairs
First of all, 90% of all women have facial and body hair, it’s natural. So it’s nothing to be embarrassed about, but nothing to be proud of either. I have been using this Braun epilator for the past 2 years.
I first started using shaving blades/razors to remove any unwanted hair. The result, stubbly arms, and legs, dark underarms. According to my hair growth, I had to shave every week. I hated it! It ruined my skin tone, left heavy pigmentation, and rough skin.
I then started using hair removal creams. Absolutely hated them. So many chemicals, I felt like they could burn my skin and they DO burn your skin if you leave them on for long. The hair growth was back in like two days, the disgusting smell, I just felt like it was ruining my skin.
Then I started waxing. Waxing was good but the problem was, it was too messy to do at home, it took a long time to do, and the worst part is ‘you have to wait for the hair growth to be long enough before your next waxing session’. I cannot look like a gorilla, waiting for all my hair to grow long enough for my next wax. Although, there are a lot of good points of waxing like removal of dead skin, etc. But, for me, the cons outweigh the pros.
Braun hair removal
I then decided to buy an epilator. And, my life seriously changed from there. No, more hair problems for me. Yay!
I bought my Braun Silk Epilator 5. It came with two attachments. One applicator head is for removing hair from arms and legs, the other smaller head is for underarms and bikini. So it’s a complete package. It’s the best investment you can make, I promise! No more trips to the parlors or spending hours on waxing at home.
Epilator pulls out the hair from the roots, so the hair takes longer to grow back. I know this sounds painful but it’s not. You get used to the pain after a few uses. It’s also very simple to use.
Here is MY list of PROS of using an epilator:
- One time investment, no need to spend weekly or monthly getting waxed or buying blades and other stuff
- No after effects, like pigmentation
- Soft and smooth skin
- Hair takes longer to grow back
- It’s mess-free
- Less time consuming
- Cons of epilating
I can only think of two right now…
- Kind off painful for beginners
- You might get ingrown hair IF you don’t exfoliate regularly
Exfoliation is VERY VERY important, otherwise, you will get loads of ingrown hair. So this is all I can think of right now. You can always Google if you need more information or leave me a comment if you have any queries.
This post is based on my personal experience with hair removal but also I think a majority of girls/women would agree with me. I strongly recommend epilation if you need a long-lasting solution for unwanted hair.
The disclaimer is, of course, everyone has different skin, so what works for me may not work for you. And, our experiences can also vary with different products. So, keep that in mind.
