How to make the coffee scrub

This is probably one of the best homemade skincare products I’ve ever made to date. I’m really excited to share this DIY with you all. This is an exfoliating coffee soap bar. They turned out really good. The ingredients are very simple and easy to get your hands on. You can literally get these made up in less than an hour.

These scrub bars are really good at deep exfoliation. They leave your skin soft, smooth, and fresh feeling. The coffee in the scrub helps fight cellulite with regular use. Plus, the ingredients cost you peanuts or nothing at all as most of these will be available in your kitchen.

Recipe of body scrub spa

Easy-peasy things you’ll need:

  • Dove soap (the white one)
  • Coffee
  • Salt or Sugar
  • Coconut oil (or any oil of your preference)
  • Ice mold or cake molds
  • A box to store

Step 1: Using a cheese grater, grate the soap into a bowl. I grated half a soap as I wanted to make a small batch to test first.

Step 2: Add about 4-5 tablespoons of coconut oil and mix with shredded soap.

Step 3: Microwave the mixture for about 30 seconds. You can also melt the mixture in a pot on a stovetop.

Okay, now here is where your personal preference comes in. How grainy do you want your bar to be? If you want less sugar/salt and more coffee, then add accordingly. In the end, the texture should not be too liquidy or too dry. The ingredients should stick together. So, add salt and coffee to the melted soap until you attain that texture.

Step 4: Mix all the ingredients together. You can see the texture is such that it is sticking to the spoon.

Freezing mold

Optional step: Before adding the mixture to your molds, add some coffee beans or ground coffee. Makes them look prettier when you get them out.

Step 5: Carefully, place the mixture into the mold. Put in the freezer for about 30 mins.

Tips on how to use body scrub

Use this as a deep exfoliator, once or twice a week depending on your skin type. Use on wet skin. You don’t need to use a loofah! Soap and exfoliation are combined into one! Wet your skin, use this all over the body (except face) and rinse. You don’t need to use any soap after this obviously. As with any scrub be gentle while using it, you don’t want to turn your skin red. For me, one little heart lasts one use. And, don’t use this scrub immediately after any kind of hair removal, as it will burn.

How to storage

Store in a container, at room temperature, they will not melt. No need to store in the fridge. Just make sure that the container is dry as water makes soap soggy.

Make the bars as big or as small as you like. You can make them into whatever shape you want. If you don’t have a mould just use your hands to make different shapes and then put them in the freezer. If you have sensitive skin, it is better to use sugar in your scrub instead of salt.

What I absolutely loved? I love the ease of use, just carry one piece when you go for a bath. I love how easy these are to make. The little hearts look like something you would buy at LUSH.

I’m making another unique recipe soon, so stay tuned for that. I’m going to try to make something that will help in giving brighter, glowy, soft skin.

Let me know what you think about scrub bars.
